Cupping

Cupping therapy involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. Cupping promotes healing by improving blood flow, reducing inflammation, and relieving muscle tension. Cupping therapy is often used to alleviate pain, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. It is a complementary therapy for various conditions, including chronic pain.

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy is a type of Chinese medicine that feels much like a deep massage. Glass cups are usually used, and a cotton ball is soaked in alcohol and lit on fire, then placed inside the cup and removed. The cup is then placed on the skin quickly, which allows suction to be created within the cup. The suction that is drawn from the cup allows for stuck energy and toxins to be drawn out of the body. Many people find that cupping helps with back pain and helps them have a better life free of pain.

Wet & Dry Cupping

There is dry and wet cupping techniques, however Cascade Health Clinic only does dry cupping. This is what was just described. The treatment typically last about 20-30 minutes (sometimes longer), and can leave marks that look like bruises. The marks cupping therapy leaves are due to the suction, and will fade away after a few days.

Stationary Cupping & Massage Cupping

At Cascade Health Clinic we perform stationary cupping, where the cups are left in place as well as massage cupping where the cups are moved across the skin to help decrease pain and break up tissue. Cupping therapy works great to remove toxins towards the surface of the skin and out of the body.
